Vorstellung «Markiezenhof» de Bergen Op Zoom

Im historischen Zentrum von Bergen op Zoom befindet sich einer der schönsten Stadtpaläste Europas im spätgotischen Stil: der «Markiezenhof».
Dieser Palast, der zunächst eine Residenz des Adels und dann des Marquis von Bergen op Zooms war, wurde Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts vom berühmten Mecheler Architekten Anthonie Keldermans erbaut.
Er beherbergt heute ein Restaurant, eine Bibliothek und ein Museum.
Die zweite Etage des Museums ist ausschließlich den Jahrmärkten gewidmet. Im ersten Saal springt der Besucher in der Zeit zurück und findet sich auf einem Marktplatz des 16. Jahrhunderts wieder, auf dem die Kirmes stattfand. Er erfährt etwas über die Ursprünge der Jahrmärkte und all das, was daraus entstanden ist, also über das Kino, den Zirkus, die zoologischen Gärten, das Theater, die Wachsfigurenkabinette usw. Attraktionen des 16. Jahrhunderts wie der Wahrsager, der Tanzbär und der Scharlatan werden - in Aktion - dargestellt. Im anatomischen Kabinett kann sich der Besucher eine Reihe von Missbildungen in Formalin sowie Modelle für die Vorführung von Körperteilen und medizinischen Entdeckungen anschauen. Der Riese von Rotterdam und der Zwerg Simon Paap werden nicht nur auf Fotos präsentiert, sondern man kann auch einen Schuh und eine Jacke bewundern.
Und schließlich können Groß und Klein die Freuden eines wunderschön rekonstruierten Miniaturjahrmarktes genießen. Unzählige sich drehende Attraktionen werden hier präsentiert, z.B. das Riesenrad, die Berg-und-Tal-Bahn, kleine Flugzeuge, Mühlen - ohne natürlich den Süßigkeitenstand zu vergessen. Ein echter Nougatstand rundet das Bild ab.
Über der zur Ausstellung führenden Treppe sind interessante, farbenfrohe Plakate angebracht, auf denen dem Besucher angekündigt wird, was ihn erwartet!

Présentation du « Markiezenhof » de Bergen Op Zoom

Dans le centre historique de Bergen op Zoom se trouve l’un des plus beaux palais urbains d’Europe en style gothique tardif : le « Markiezenhof ».
Ce palais était la résidence des seigneurs, et plus tard des marquis de Bergen op Zoom, et fut construit à la fin du XVe siècle par le célèbre architecte malinois Anthonie Keldermans.
Il abrite aujourd’hui un restaurant, une bibliothèque et un musée.
Le deuxième étage du musée est entièrement consacré aux foires. Dans la première salle, le visiteur fait un bond en arrière dans le temps pour se retrouver sur une grand-place du XVIe siècle, lieu où se tenait la kermesse. Il apprend les origines des foires et tout ce qui en a découlé : le cinéma, le cirque, les jardins zoologiques, le théâtre, les musées de cire, etc. Des attractions du XVIe siècle - en action - sont exposées, comme l’ours dansant, le diseur et le charlatan. Dans le cabinet anatomique, le visiteur verra une foule d'animaux affligés de malformations et conservés dans de l’eau forte, des modèles pour la démonstration de parties du corps, et des découvertes médicales. Le géant de Rotterdam et le nain Simon Paap sont non seulement exposés en photo, mais on peut aussi admirer une chaussure et une veste.
Enfin, petits et grands pourront savourer les plaisirs d’une kermesse miniature magnifiquement reconstituée. D’innombrables attractions tournantes se dressent ici, comme la grande roue, la chenille, les petits avions, les moulins, sans oublier le stand de pâtisseries. Un authentique étal de nougat complète l’ensemble.
L’escalier menant à l’exposition est décoré d’intéressantes affiches colorées sur les foires, qui annoncent au visiteur ce qui l’attend !

Presentazione del “Markiezenhof” di Bergen Op Zoom

Nel centro storico di Bergen op Zoom si trova uno dei più bei palazzi urbani d’Europa in stile tardo gotico: il “Markiezenhof”.
Questo palazzo, residenza dei signori e, in seguito, dei marchesi di Bergen op Zoom, fu costruito alla fine del XV secolo dal celebre architetto Anthonie Keldermans di Malines.
Oggi è sede di un ristorante, di una biblioteca e di un museo.
Il secondo piano del museo è interamente dedicato alle fiere. Nella prima sala il visitatore fa un salto all’indietro nel tempo per ritrovarsi su una grande piazza del XVI secolo, luogo in cui si teneva la kermesse. Ci vengono spiegate le origini delle fiere e tutto quel che ne è seguito: cinema, circo, giardini zoologici, teatro, musei delle cere, e così via. Sono esposte attrazioni in movimento del XVI secolo come l’orso ballerino, il cantastorie e il medico ciarlatano. Nel laboratorio di anatomia troveremo una miriade di animali afflitti da malformazioni e conservati in acqua forte, modellini per le dimostrazioni sul corpo umano, scoperte mediche. Il gigante di Rotterdam e il nano Simon Paap sono non solo esposti in foto: è possibile anche ammirarne una giacca e una camicia.
Grandi e piccini potranno poi ammirare una kermesse in miniatura magnificamente ricostruita. Numerosissime le attrazioni girevoli: la grande ruota, il bruco, gli aeroplanini, i mulini, senza dimenticare lo stand dei dolciumi. A completare il tutto un’autentica distesa di torrone.
La scala che porta all’esposizione è decorata da interessanti manifesti riguardanti le fiere, che annunciano al visitatore cosa lo aspetta!

Introduction Markiezenhof Bergen Op Zoom

In het historisch centrum van Bergen op Zoom ligt één van de mooiste laat-gotische stadspaleizen van Europa: Het Markiezenhof.
Dit paleis was het woonhuis van de Heren, later de Markiezen van Bergen op Zoom en werd eind 15de eeuw gebouwd door de bekende Mechelse bouwmeester Anthonie Keldermans.
Het paleis biedt nu onderdak aan een restaurant, een bibliotheek, en een museum.
De gehele tweede verdieping van het museum is ingericht als kermismuseum. In de eerste zaal waant de bezoeker zich op een zestiende-eeuws markt- en kermisplein en verneemt daar hoe de kermis is ontstaan en wat er allemaal uit is voortgekomen: de bioscoop, het circus, de dierentuin, het toneel, het theater, het wassenbeeldenkabinet enzovoorts. Zestiende-eeuwse attracties zoals de dansende beer, de rolzanger, en de kwakzalver in actie zijn in de opstelling te zien. In het Anatomisch Kabinet ziet de bezoeker tal van dieren met afwijkingen op sterk water, demonstratiemodellen van menselijke delen, en medische uitvindingen. Van de reus van Rotterdam en de dwerg Simon Paap zijn niet alleen foto’s maar ook de schoen en een jasje tentoongesteld.
Jong en oud kunnen tenslotte genieten van een groots opgezette miniatuurkermis. Talloze draaiende attracties zoals het reuzenrad, de rups, de vliegtuigjes, de draaimolen, alsook gebakkramen staan hier opgesteld. Een echte nougatkraam completeert het geheel.
In het trappenhuis naar de kermistentoonstelling hangen interessante veelkleurige kermisaffiches: het is een vooraankondiging van wat de bezoeker te wachten staat!

Introduction to the Markiezenhof in Bergen op Zoom

In the historic centre of Bergen op Zoom stands one of the finest late Gothic urban palaces in Europe: the Markiezenhof.
This palace was the residence of the Lords, later the Marquises of Bergen op Zoom, and was built at the end of the 15th century by the famed Malines architect Anthonie Keldermans.Today it houses a restaurant, a library and a museum.
The second floor of the museum is entirely given over to fairs. The first gallery transports the visitor back in time to a huge square in the 16th century, where the kermis fair was held. There is an opportunity to learn about the origins of the fairs and everything they grew into: the cinema, the circus, the zoo, the theatre, the waxworks and so on. Some attractions from the 16th century – in action – are on show, such as the dancing bear, the minstrel and the quack. In the anatomical cabinet there is a collection of animals with deformities, pickled in aqua fortis, models to demonstrate the parts of the body, and medical discoveries. From the giant of Rotterdam and the dwarf Simon Paap we can see not only photographs but also a shoe and a jacket.
Finally, young and old alike will delight in the pleasures of a magnificently reconstructed miniature fair. Countless working attractions are on show here, such as the big wheel, the caterpillar, the little aeroplanes and the windmills as well as a cake stall. A real nougat stall completes the picture.
The staircase leading to the exhibition is decorated with interesting fairground posters, to whet the visitor’s appetite!
